Terms of Use

Use of Dawson County Criminal History means that you accept these terms. If you disagree with any part of them, stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no government affiliation and is not a consumer reporting agency. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, tenant-screening, insurance, or another purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

1. What This Website Is

Dawson County Criminal History is a private reference site. It does not store official records, perform official checks, retrieve files, or submit documents for a user.

It identifies public custodians such as the Dawson County Sheriff, local court clerks, Texas DPS, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Public access is governed in part by the Texas Public Information Act, while Government Code Chapter 411 limits dissemination of DPS criminal-history information. Outside companies operate the search tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

You must not use the website to:

  • Violate federal, Texas, or local law
  • Stalk, threaten, intimidate, or harass a person
  • Make a credit, employment, tenant-screening, or insurance decision
  • Obtain unauthorized access to a system or account
  • Run bots, scrapers, or automated collection tools
  • Disrupt service or interfere with another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information obtained here or through a linked service may not be used to harass, stalk, intimidate, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate. This rule is especially important for the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Texas law controls registry publication, and unlawful acts directed at a listed person may be crimes. Public registry data supports safety and awareness. It does not authorize vigilantism or private punishment.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not produce consumer reports, credit reports, or official background checks. Data from this website or a linked tool may not be used to:

  • Make an employment decision
  • Conduct tenant screening
  • Decide creditworthiness or insurance eligibility
  • Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A legally authorized official process must be used when the FCRA or another law applies. This website and its tools are not that process.

5. No Legal Advice

Website content is not legal advice. General Dawson County information cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, expunction, or nondisclosure rule applies to one person. Consult a licensed Texas attorney for legal advice.

6. No Warranties

All content is offered "as is." We make no promise that:

  • Partner results will be complete, current, or correctly matched
  • Every page will remain accurate and current
  • The service will be uninterrupted
  • The website will be free of errors or security defects

Charges, dispositions, custody, expunction orders, and access rules can change. Gaps and delays are possible. Only the Dawson County or Texas office maintaining a record can give an official statement about it.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to government offices, court portals, Texas agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. We do not control those destinations and are not responsible for their availability, content, fees, privacy practices, or results. Read the destination's terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Unless stated otherwise, site text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Dawson County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used for derivative work without written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for damage arising from website use, reliance on its content, or information returned by a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your website use or breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Texas law governs these terms. A legal dispute arising from website use must be brought in a court located in Texas.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A revised version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may restrict or end access at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected term will be changed only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be submitted through the Contact page.
